The speculation about the recent awards show was significant, especially after presenter Geoff Keighley shared an enigmatic image of a strange statue. The secret has now been solved. The acclaimed developer is creating a fresh Divinity game.
Titled simply Divinity, the game was debuted with a daring trailer that included striking imagery, from a burning man to scenes of revelry and the literal descent into chaos.
A Different Direction
For those hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian warned that a direct sequel to its beloved RPGs is not currently in development.
However, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the main series. This distinction suggests that the team could be crafting a real-time experience instead of another turn-based title. For now, it remains theory, as only a teaser video is available.
The Legacy of Divinity
The Divinity series is widely praised and it's fair to claim it sparked the modern wave of complex computer role-playing games. These games are known for rich lore, branching plots, and deep class systems—traits that recently found massive success in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its world is classic fantasy, what makes Divinity apart is the remarkable agency given to the player.
While numerous modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is packed with specialized paths that are viable by choosing a distinct build with a specific history of choices.
The series is also notoriously permissive, letting players to experiment throughout the entire experience. Most missions can be solved in a variety of manners, often in unexpected fashion.
- You might progress the story because you heeded something an animal companion shared.
- Or, you could overcome an obstacle by moving environmental hazards in a inventive way.
The Journey Continues
It is this design philosophy that have cemented the series to declare games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games in history. Now, players can get ready for a new entry in this groundbreaking franchise.
